“Sports massage and medical massage are very similar. How injuries occur varies, but the same methods are used to treat soft tissue injuries regardless of etiology, with individual variations of course. I believe the two types of massage go hand in hand. I was trained in Florida, where massage therapy is considered a medical modality, and massage therapists carry a medical license. I have always felt that massage is a valid medical treatment for managing a wide range of pathologies. My methods are validated by studies at The Touch Research Institute at The University of Miami Medical Center, and research by Mark Hyman Rapaport PHD, author of ‘Massage Wants to be Medicine’. I founded BODYSMART because I believe that Californians deserve to receive quality medical massage treatment, and be able to spend health insurance allocated funds to pay for it.”

The BODYSMART Difference
All therapists at BODYSMART have a minimum of 3 years of massage experience and each have unique specializations. They participate in monthly continuing education training by Kim and other medical professionals in various medical modalities and evidence-based advances in massage therapy. Your bodywork sessions are treated as medical appointments; each patient has a medical chart and a specific treatment plan. With a physician recommendation, these sessions can be paid for using Health Savings Account (HSA) or FLEX account funds, and some companies provide direct reimbursement for medical massage sessions. In many cases, medically necessary treatments may be applied towards health insurance deductibles. Learn more about reimbursement for medical massage here.
