Kim Freetly
LMT, NCBTMB, Graston Provider
Kim Freetly is the president and founder of BODYSMART, located in Ventura, CA.
Kim is board certified through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a Licensed Massage Therapist. She is one of only a handful of local massage therapists to have met this board’s rigorous standards, and holds licenses in both California and Arizona.
Kim is a specialist in strength and conditioning with the International Sports Science Association (ISSA) and a Certified Graston Provider.
Kim opened her first practice, Massage for Peak Performance, in 2006, specializing in addressing and preventing sports injuries in athletes competing in a wide range of sports at recreational, competitive, Olympic and professional levels. She has received hundreds of referrals from local physicians for her work in myo-fascial pain management.
“Sports massage and medical massage are very similar. How injuries occur varies, but the same methods are used to treat soft tissue injuries regardless of etiology, with individual variations of course. I believe the two types of massage go hand in hand. I was trained in Florida, where massage therapy is considered a medical modality, and massage therapists carry a medical license. I have always felt that massage is a valid medical treatment for managing a wide range of pathologies. My methods are validated by studies at The Touch Research Institute at The University of Miami Medical Center, and research by Mark Hyman Rapaport PHD, author of ‘Massage Wants to be Medicine’. I founded BODYSMART because I believe that Californians deserve to receive quality medical massage treatment, and be able to spend health insurance allocated funds to pay for it.”

Kim has an amazingly detailed understanding of human anatomy and is able to pinpoint problems and therefore elicit great results from her body work. I have been sending patients to Kim who have had chronic musculoskeletal issues and orthopedic surgeons and physical therapist have not been able to help. She has not only helped the issues, but assisted the clients in how to avoid injuring themselves in the future.
